Sodium-Ion Saline Batteries More Efficient Than Lithium Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries currently power Smartphones and other devices; however, in addition to the internal wear and tear of frequent charging, the batteries themselves lose their usefulness over time. Tested a battery made of sodium ion. The first is that sodium is abundant in nature and the second is that its usefulness is much better than that of a lithium-ion battery. Washington State University Scientists have come up with a basic design for this battery. It should note that there were many challenges involved in the manufacture of sodium batteries. Inactivated sodium crystals accumulate on the negatively charged cathode and the battery becomes inoperable within a few days. The second problem is that sodium-ion batteries could not hold more charge than their lithium batteries. Scientists at the University of Washington have tried to solve this problem. They have designed a sodium-ion battery in which the cathode is made of metal oxide, while on the other hand, a liquid electrolyte rich in sodium ion has used. When this battery was tested, the battery worked well and no sodium particles accumulated on its head.

The amount of electricity in this battery was the same as that of a lithium-ion battery. Even after being charged 1000 times, the battery remained useful with 80% efficiency. Thus, it is the first battery whose cathode is made of a completely different material. In the next step, its design can further be improved.
